There are several surf spots along the East Cape, with Nine Palms perhaps the most well-known. Nine Palms is south of Cabo Pulmo, about 45 minutes down the very scenic coast road. This is gentler, warm-water surfing, in contrast to the colder, burlier surf spots on the Pacific side of the peninsula. Still, it has been on most every Baja surf itinerary for decades, with its chill vibe and lack of riptides. There’s ample room for beginners and intermediate surfers off the main break. In the summer months, experienced surfers especially enjoy it as firm swells form from the south and even the occasional barrel makes an appearance.
